To view your January 2010 invoice, log into the reservation system. Click on the Invoice # to view or print the full invoice. (If you have selected to receive your invoice as an attachment, it is part of this email. If you have selected to receive a paper invoice, it will arrive by mail shortly).

Corporate / NGO drivers
If you are a driver on a Corporate or Non-profit account, this email is being sent to you for Newsletter content only. Account Administrators who are also drivers can view the invoice using the instructions above.

Toyota Recall Information

2009/2010 Matrix Models
All our 2009/2010 Toyota Matrix vehicles (about 30) were affected by the recent Toyota recall.  As of February 10th, all have been serviced by Toyota as per the recall and are no longer affected. Please visit www.autoshare.com/toyota for more information.

2010 Prius Models
Toyota has reported a possible brake issue with the 2010 Toyota Prius. Our fleet contains only two 2010 Prius models and both have been removed from service pending further news from Toyota Canada regarding a fix. Our remaining Prius models are not affected by this issue.  Please visit www.autoshare.com/toyota for more information.


KeyCards Are Shipping

We have some very exciting news. The new KeyCards will be mailed out next week to all of our members. Also included in the package will be a quick brochure explaining the new technology and how this KeyCard will change the way you use AutoShare. If you do not receive your KeyCard by the end of February, please contact us at feedback@autoshare.com.

Two cars are now equipped with the new technology and are live for a small group of members. These and additional vehicles will start becoming available in early March to all members.


An AutoShare Moment

We have decided to dedicate the "AutoShare Moment" section to profiling a few of our members who have extended themselves to help the relief efforts in Haiti.

Member Tyler C.(pictured) used an AutoShare Honda Fit one weekend evening to collect food and other items for Haiti from donators around town, which she later dropped off at a local fire station.

Member Elliot N. has also been involved in a notable volunteer effort, Toronto Works For Haiti, which provides professional services in areas such as  IT, marketing consulting and design, personal coaching, real estate services, and others. 100% of the generated proceeds go to Canadian Red Cross, Doctors Without Borders, or the Humanitarian Coalition. We hear they're still looking for donations and volunteers.

Haiti Donations

We would like to thank all members who have taken the opportunity to donate $1 when making a reservation. We have matched all donations and this week will be donating $2,000, split evenly between the UNICEF and Doctors Without Borders. Our goal is to donate a total of $10,000.

Winter Reminders

Winter weather is finally upon us. We wanted to pass along some wise reminders.

Ice Scrapers, Shovels & Wiper Fluid 
All vehicles are equipped with scoop shovels (in the trunk) and ice scrapers/brushes. As a consideration to the next member, please leave them in an easy to find place.

ABS Brakes
Many of our vehicles are equipped with ABS brakes (Anti-lock Brake System) which simulates the rapid pumping of the brakes to allow for greater steering control and avoid skidding while braking in slippery conditions. When the ABS is triggered, the sounds and feel of the system include:
- a rapid pulsing or shudder of the brake pedal (as if it is fighting back)
- a groaning noise from the brakes 
- a hard (non-compliant) brake pedal

1/2¢ Gas Surcharge due to higher gas prices

Gas prices in January averaged about $1/litre (our base rate is 95¢). All driving in January will be billed with a 1/2¢ gas surcharge. We continue to believe that a "floating gas price" is the best and fairest way to deliver our service.


Carbon Offsets by Zerofootprint

AutoShare individual, family and all of our corporate/gov't/NGO members have the ability to offset the CO2 resulting from their driving. It is absolutely free for organizational members and costs roughly 1/2¢ (half a cent) per kilometer for personal accounts.

The offsets are made through three local projects in Ontario, Quebec and British Columbia. For more information on this initiative please visit www.autoshare.com/zerofootprint
