We have begun the final stage of converting all of our cars to the Keycard system: taking away the Trip Logs, adding Esso 'pay at the cashier' gas cards, and a new Damage reporting system. This means some great improvements, and a couple of small but important changes, to the way our service will work. Please take a look at this short 'Welcome' video, which includes important info about using our paperless system.
Here are just a few highlights of what you'll see starting June 2011.
Fleet conversion - 95% of cars are now KeyCard access vehicles (100% by July)
Removal of Trip Logs has started, and will be competed soon
New Reporting process for Damage, Low Gas & Messy Cars
Touch-Tone phone system (IVR) to Extend your reservations or Return Early
Good-Bye Lock Box
As of June 1st, the AutoShare Fleet will be almost 100% KeyCard accessible and we will launch our "Paperless Fleet". Please continue to carry both you Lock Box key and KeyCard until future notice.
Each vehicle will be equipped with a handy Drive Guide as of mid June - check your glove box! This will act as your reference guide to a carefree and seamless trip.
Gas Cards
An Esso Gas Card will be available each of our vehicles activated June 1st. For full information on how to use the Esso Card, please watch the short video below and/or go to autoshare.com/gascard . Members are still required to carry cash, credit or debit with them in case you need to buy other supplies for the car or can’t find an ESSO station.
Good-Bye Trip Log
Starting June 1st you will notice the Trip Logs disappearing from the fleet. When you do find a Trip Log in the vehicle, it means we still need you to complete one. If the vehicle has no Trip Log, you will find the Trip Log holder empty, except for a little reminder on our new process.
Remember, "nothing gets left behind" as of June 1st ; no personal items, garbage or messes (dog hair or food waste), receipts or paper (exception - Trip Logs will continue in select vehicles).
Reporting
We always ask that you inspect the vehicle at the beginning and end of your trip and report what you find. Our reporting process as of June 1st forward will be paperless. If you need to report finding damage, low gas or a messy car there will be a new process to call it in.
Reimbursement
If you need to purchase anything for the vehicle, such as a car wash or a wiper blade, members can scan & email receipts to our office (you can also fax or mail them). And if you use the Esso card, there will be no receipt to send! As always, please be sure to include your member number in all correspondence.
Touch-Tone
We will be adding Touch-Tone option to Extend or Return Early. This would save you the Booking Charge (see below). Alternatively, you can make changes to you reservation without charge by using the ComUnit (ComUnit in KeyCard vehicles to Extend and Return Early only), smartphone or computer.
We have had a few members contact us because they can't remember their PIN from when they reset it from the default. To reset your PIN again, login to the online reservation system and follow these 5 quick steps.
Call Charge, renamed Booking Charge - Increase in Price
Our Call Charge is changing names to a "Booking Charge" to help make it clearer as to what we do and do not apply it to. The Booking Charge is only applied when you call an operator to make a new reservation, make changes to the reservation, extend your time or return your reservation early . There is no Booking charge when you call to ask a question or report an issue with your reservation. As of June 1st, the Booking Charge will increase from $1.00 to $2.50 .
$0 Deductible
The standard deductible for damage to AutoShare vehicles is $750 (if a member is deemed to be 'at fault'), but there are 2 easy ways to reduce your deductible to $0: Follow these links to the forms to use your VISA or Mastercard 'gold card' insurance - or - to pay an annual fee of $65.
