AutoShare's Chevy Volt - Electric Range 50km, Backup Gas Range 400+km

Unlike most hybrids, The Chevrolet Volt is a plug-in hybrid electric, which means it has an electric motor and gas generator, which will provide you with more charge and longer range.

 

Making a Reservation

To make a reservation, you can book the EV off of our reservation system just like any of our existing vehicles.

 

9 Quick Steps to Get you Started

 

1 - Unplug charger from the vehicle and insert into charge the station

2 - Start the vehicle by pushing the blue power button located on the left side of the central controls

3 - Release parking brake if on

4 - Lock or unlock doors on the side of central controls

5 - Indicates the range for battery power

6 - Indicates the fuel amount

7 - Illustrates the combined range for both. If the battery is depleted, the gauge changes to display the fuel amount and range.

8 - Press the fuel door button on the driver’s door in front/below of the power window switches for one second. A ‘Wait to Refuel’ message will display on the instrument cluster.  Wait for the message to change to ‘Ready to Refuel’.

More Detailed Info - For Those Who Like the Reading

 

Starting the vehicle

  • The Volt does not require a key when a reservation is logged in the AutoShare system
  • While applying the brake, push the blue power button (flashes blue for a short period after the driver’s door is closed) located on the left side of the central controls
  • The vehicle will make a sound like a computer starting and a READY light will illuminate on the lower left hand side of the instrument cluster.

Door lock switch
The power door lock switch is on the passenger side of the central controls (to the right of the radio switches).
Opening rear hatch
Unlock all the doors (using keycard or door lock switch). Lift up on the button on the underside of the hatch (just above the center of the rear bumper)

Parking Brake

  • Parking brake is electric, the switch is located on the passenger side of the central controls
  • The brake pedal must be depressed to set or release the parking brake.
  • Note: the parking brake will release automatically if the vehicle is in gear and the accelerator pedal is depressed

Driving Range
Three vehicle ranges are displayed indicating the range for battery power, fuel amount, and a combined range for both. When the battery is charged, the display on the left side of the instrument cluster displays the battery power gauge and range remaining. The fuel range is displayed above the battery gauge while the combined range is displayed below the battery gauge. If the battery is depleted, the gauge changes to display the fuel amount and range.

Filling the gas tank
Press the fuel door button on the driver’s door in front/below of the power window switches (next to the power cord port button) for one second. A ‘Wait to Refuel’ message will display on the instrument cluster.  Wait for the message to change to ‘Ready to Refuel’. Always use PREMIUM GASOLINE.

 

Charging the vehicle

  • The charge connection is located on the front fender just in front of the driver’s door. Push the charge door opener located on the driver’s door in front/below the power window switches. For charging at a charge station, insert the charge station plug into the vehicle charge port. If required, activate the charge station by touching the charge station card (located in the passenger-side visor organizer) to the card reader on the charge station.
  • For charging with a household outlet (120V), remove the charge cord located under the back hatch floor, connect the plug into the household outlet and the charge cord plug into the vehicle charge port.
  • The green light on the top of the dash (visible from the front of the vehicle) will illuminate; the light will flash green once the battery is fully charged
  • The vehicle fully charges in about 3 hours when plugged into a charging station.
  • Plugging the vehicle into a regular household plug (120V) will take approximately 10 hours to fully charge.
  • NEVER USE AN EXTENSION CORD AS IT MAY OVERLOAD REGULAR EXTENSION CORDS!

Climate control
Touch the ‘Climate’ button on the upper center console, the touch screen will display the climate control features for adjustmen

 

Please consult the owner’s manual in the glove compartment for detailed information on these and other features. There is a separate manual specific to the operation of the navigation system.
